I want Baroque...NOW!...

So one of autumn winter 12 upcoming trends is baroque. Baroque is a mixture of prints, including floral and dark wintery colours. I love baroque because its so classy and vintage even though its interpreted in a modern way. I love the use of tapestry and renaissance styled prints such as cherubs (cupid looking babies) which look very regal and add life to even the plainest style of dress.
Now because i'm in love with it so much i have seen this beautiful dress on Asos which is a beautiful bodycon dress by river island, its features include: crafted from a stretch fabric. The details include: a cherub print design with contrast trims, a round neckline, sleeveless styling, a high waist and an exposed zip fastening through the centre back.

Alexander McQueen pre spring/summer 2013 Paris ...

So I've just laid my eyes on Alexanders McQueen's spring/summer collection for next year and i can tell you Mr McQueen failed to disappoint! His collection is filled with a mixture of suits, all in ones and beautiful gowns. Also he's used colours such as beau blue, light grey, black and jewel colours like red, blue etc.

I love how he's used androgyny to for the suits, i also admire how he's re-introduced shoulder pads which contrast with the bootleg cut trousers which add length to whoever is wearing them. The belts add a futuristic taste to the collection made from chrome.

One of my favourite things from this collection is the dragonfly print on the all in one bustier suit with the waist belt. This piece is so elegant and original, the dragonfly print is so soft yet bold because they stand out and still don't over shadow the belt which makes the body look like it has a Barbie figure.
On the subject of prints, he's also used a stunning oriental print of birds and leaves that veer off the futuristic side of the collection and into a more 'old china'.

McQueen also designed mesmerising ball gowns with the classic colours gold and black. The lengthening gowns are so classy and feminine, they would flow so delicately and suit any occasion.  I also adore hows kept it in the theme of being clenched in at the waist which help whoever is wearing its neckline and shoulders to be accentuated.

Therefore Alexander McQueens collection has been a success and i look forward to see who will be pulling of theses items in the near future.

Is thrifty nifty?...

So today wandering around London I found the cutest little vintage thrift shop, called Beyond Retro. They had everything: from American jock remade jumpers to British bowler hats and 60's sunglasses to 80's velvet dresses.

But do people still appreciate the clothes compared to high street fashion?

In my opinion, these clothes are timeless. Every single piece of clothing in this shop had been filtered down into high street clothing anyway; so why pay for copies when you could have the original? The vintage clothing had much more character and certainly were so pretty and chic in there own right. Also the shop its self was like a maze of bright floral & aztec patterns with splashes of bohemian print that just finished off the mood of the quirky little shop. The shop was also set out into sections, there was the section of everyday attire that included: denim jackets, denim tie up shirts, edited levis & over sized tees. However the other part of the shop was like a blend of glitter and flowing chiffon! it was filled with elegant gowns to halter neck party dresses that sat so perfectly next to huge fluffy petticoat skirts in every colour. Amazingly they were so reasonably priced, I would definitely recommend you take a sneak peak at this shop.
 It's beautiful.
